Weekend.

The Hornberger's had a fairly busy weekend.  Starting really on Thursday with Thanksgiving.  We traveled "home" to Southeast Indiana to spend most of the day with Brad's family at his mom and dad's.  Good food and better company.  We even managed to get a photo of (almost) the whole family.  We headed back to Bloomington in the afternoon and had a nice, relaxing turkey dinner with mom and dad, then headed home to get some sleep while mom kept Ben for the night.

Brad woke with a bit of a cold Friday so dad and I headed out to do a bit of shopping in the pre-dawn hours.  We went to Lowes, Michaels and Office Depot before catching up with mom and Ben to get his breakfast at McDonalds (he always wants cakes after a night spent with Nana.  Brad, Ben and I met the Weddles for breakfast at Cracker Barrel after shopping and then relaxed most the rest of the day before going to see the Bloomington downtown lighting ceremony Friday night.

Saturday we headed back to Cinci after I worked for Kat's birthday party on Sunday.  We had a great time seeing Hannah and Paul.  Paul's family is always fun to be around:)  Kat enjoyed her party, her presents, and really enjoyed her first birthday cake.  Ben even joined in on the fun by opening a few of her gifts when she got bored.

Happy Birthday Miss Kat!

The Wonder of Christmas Lights

What is it about Christmas lights that is so mesmerizing?  They just make me happy.

This past Friday we attended the downtown Bloomington holiday lighting ceremony.  Bloomington's downtown is so magical this time of year with all the lights.  I really have never seen anyplace more spectacular with what must be millions of white lights on every tree branch and from the courthouse to every building on the square.  It is breathtaking.  I was really excited to share it with Ben this year as he has a great appreciation for lights now.  Brad, Dad and I took him downtown and met our friends Pam and Andy and their son Carson.  We talked our friend Meagan into joining us too.

A great time was had by all, especially the kids, who were entranced by all the lights.  I look forward to making this a yearly tradition.

Mr. Mom

As of yesterday Brad is officially a "stay at home Dad."  Yeah!!!

This is something that we have been looking towards for a while.  We always wanted one of us to be able to stay at home with Ben, it so happens that it works out better if that person is Brad.  We are so excited at this change and the time that we will all be able to spend together now.  Since my schedule has some flexibility at this point we are looking forward to dinner together every night and I am looking forward to coming home to both of my guys after work every day.  I am so thankful that my career, and the fact that I am getting busier at work by the month, allows us to do this.

Still need more sleep.

Ben still didn't sleep well last night.  Brad and I had the glamorous "date night" of Target, Steak n Shake and grocery shopping.  When we returned home at 9:30 where Nana and Poppy were keeping Ben he was still awake.  An overtired and overstimulated little boy was not easy to get to sleep at all.  Finally he went down about 10:30, WAY past his bedtime, only to once again awaken at 1:15 am crying, for no reason that was apparent to us.  Back to sleep about 3 am and up for good just before 8 am.  I am so freakin' tired!

Not much planned for today.  Doing some projects around the house... cleaning, organizing, Christmas projects.  Looking forward to a day with no plans.

Sleep.

I like sleep.  I really like sleep.  Before Ben was born I was one of those people who would sleep until 10 o'clock or so every Sunday morning.  I miss sleep.

Ben was not feeling his best yesterday.  He had a slight fever and I think a little cold.  His nose is always runny so it is hard to tell.  So, I let him sleep with us last night.  You would think that would mean he went to sleep faster and slept better, right?  No.

It took him almost an hour to go to sleep and then he woke up at 2:00 am.  He was restless so I gave him some Infant Tylenol and proceeded to try for TWO HOURS to get him back to sleep.  At four a.m., at my wits end I put him alone in his room and listened to him cry for "daddy."  He cries for daddy because it was his mean mommy who left him there, and he knows whose buttons he can most easily push.  So after about ten minutes of pitiful fussing, Brad went in and got him to sleep again in his own bed.  He slept for 3 blissful hours before turning up on my side of the bed at 7 a.m. wanting to snuggle with mommy.

I am glad he doesn't hold a grudge.
